Welcome to the world of tomorrow!

I first felt like I'd 'arrived in the future' back in 2003. Angelbiscuit and I were traveling through Europe and had stopped in an electronics store to hopefully use one or more display PCs to check email and whatnot.

We came across a display TV and were transfixed by what was being shown. It was the film Interstella 5555, a sort of animated operatic adventure set to the Daft Punk album, Discovery (none of which we'd seen or heard before).

Standing there: two 20-year-old Americans, in a Torino Fnac, watching a Japanese film, set to a French album, sung in English: that sort of easy transnationalism was momentarily breathtaking (and both the film and album are great, too).
