Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

I left my hoodie in Mexico.

Traveling to Mexico was something of a spur-of-the-moment decision.  Over the 2014 Christmas holiday I'd been video-chatting with my father (Michael) and step-mother (Paula), and it became pointed to me that I hadn't seen Michael since Summer 2009, and I'd never actually met Paula in-person.  So this past January, before school started, I traveled to Ajijic, Mexico to visit them.

They were fantastic hosts.  First of all, they put me up in a B&B (Casa Flores), which was a beautiful, wonderful space in which to relax and recuperate.  I took advantage of the fresh breakfast every morning, and really appreciated having a space all to my own while I was there.  It made the whole trip very comfortable.  When I wasn't hanging out with Michael & Paula, it was a base of operations from which I could venture forth and explore my immediate surroundings and learn the Ajijic layout.

The trip was less of a sightseeing opportunity, and more of a time where Michael, Paula, and I could interact comfortably and get to know one another better.  We talked all the time.  We walked about the town, showing me various restaurants, shops, and vistas, but mostly we talked. We talked over meals, we talked while walking along the beach, and we talked over hands of Love Letter and Grave Robbers from Outer Space.

I really hope I left them with a positive impression; that I'm chatty if nothing else, I suppose.  I had a great time.  It combined a restful vacation with an opportunity to know my family a little bit better, and to let them get to know me.  All-in-all, an A+ trip.
